Business. Unfortunately we can’t get to those sort of things and it’s very
difficult and I need, I feel that I need to now look at ways to expand my
business but expand it personally as well as business wise so that I can

“I guess, yes the different questions that you have asked me throughout
the questionnaire has really sort of brought a few things to light. I guess it
helped me to find new goals now that you know I may have been
wondering about. It’s actually now I know the specifics now of what I need
to sort of do to keep the business and to be more successful – definitely.”
Commonalities
It is not difficult to identify the commonalities between the above Australasian transcribed data
and the more recent 2011 feedback from SNUsacc client’s interviews in terms of ‘shared
experiences’ of rural women. Both interview processes provided an opportunity for these
women to think about their businesses and what they have gained from being businesswomen.
This self-awareness created over time, transforms into one of self-confidence. The interview
process also:
Highlighted many issues these women would not have previously taken into
consideration.
Crystallised the realisation that, as women, their contribution to community was far
greater than first imagined.
Inspired recognition in that they (women) were good at managing money matters,
and could easily operate a business without neglecting parenting and cultural
responsibilities.
Created the opportunity for women to voice their business visions, workshop their
ideas, and discuss their future plans on how they want to grow their businesses.
